How these work
Read aloud from anywhere. Every programme has a slideshow mode that fills a screen with one reading at a time, sized to fit — good for a television, a projector, or a phone held at arm’s length.
Share out the readings. Add everyone’s names and assign the passages, in order or shuffled. The slideshow then names whoever is reading next. Once assigned, the QR code carries the list — anyone who scans it gets the same names beside the same readings, with nothing stored on a server.
Unfamiliar words. Names and older English carry a faint dotted underline; tap one and a plain-English pronunciation appears in the margin, out of the way of the text.
Made to be comfortable. Light and dark, seven text sizes, a high-contrast mode, and a typeface designed for low vision.
Something quiet underneath. An optional ambience — a held drone with a chord drifting slowly above it, and a bowl sounded now and then — playing in a generated hall. It is composed in the browser as it goes, so it never loops and never repeats. Off unless you ask for it.
